Election Day Approaches: What Businesses Need to Know
With Vermont’s General Election approaching on November 3, businesses and employees have an opportunity to help shape the policies and priorities that will guide the state through the next legislative biennium by voting for the voices and leadership who will represent them in Montpelier.
The Vermont Chamber’s 2025–2026 Legislative Biennium Report highlights the major policy developments affecting Vermont businesses and includes legislative voting records on key economic issues. The report explores the people, policies, and progress that have shaped the past two years, providing insight into the years ahead. Employers can help encourage civic participation by sharing election resource.
Election Resources
As a founding member of Vermont Civic Connect, the Vermont Chamber is partnering with the Secretary of State’s Office to expand access to trusted, nonpartisan election information. The initiative provides businesses with ready-to-use resources to share with employees, helping make voter education and participation more accessible.
With Election Day approaching, here are a few important reminders that can be shared with employees:
- Check your registration: Vermont offers same-day voter registration, and voters can confirm or update their information through the Vermont Voter Portal.
- Know your voting options: General Election ballots have been mailed to active registered voters. Completed ballots can be returned by mail, delivered to a town clerk, deposited in an authorized ballot drop box, or brought to the polls.
- Plan ahead: The Secretary of State recommends mailing completed ballots by October 20 to allow time for delivery. All ballots must be received by 7 PM on November 3.
- Review your ballot: The Voter Portal allows residents to find polling locations, review sample ballots, and track returned ballots.
Businesses can access more resources on the Vermont Chamber’s Election Page including educational materials and workplace communications designed to help employees prepare.
By helping employees access reliable voting information and encouraging engagement in the democratic process, Vermont businesses can contribute to a more informed electorate and a shared understanding of the decisions shaping Vermont’s future.
