Congratulations to this Year’s Centennial Business Award Winners
13 Businesses Honored on March 13 in Burlington
For the fourth year in a row, the Vermont Chamber of Commerce partnered with Secretary of State Deborah Markowitz and Vermont Business Magazine to present Vermont businesses with the 2007 Centennial Business Awards. The awards are designed to honor and celebrate businesses across the state that have endured the vast changes and challenges throughout the past century and have unwaveringly contributed to the State’s economy.
The Vermont businesses were honored with a ceremony and reception on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Billings Student Center on the University of Vermont campus. Each award winner was offered the opportunity to display historical artifacts and information about their business. Governor James Douglas has been invited to present the award. In 2006, nearly 200 business and political leaders gathered at the Billings Center to recognize the award recipients.
Any business with a management presence in Vermont for 100 years or more was eligible to apply for the award. A total of 13 businesses were recognized with the award this year. Nominated businesses that were celebrating their centennial in 2007 and the oldest nominated businesses were included on the list. Businesses that were nominated this year but did not make the age cut-off this year will be rolled over for next year’s awards.
Businesses celebrating their centennial year this year include Billings Farm & Museum, North Barre Granite Company, and Topsham Telephone Company.
