Vermont Chamber Annual Report

2012 Annual Report

A note from our President:

  • Dear Vermont Chamber Member,

  • Vermont businesses continued to show resiliency this year, even during natural disasters and the continuing economic challenges. Our goal at the Vermont Chamber of Commerce is to offer our members products and services that position them for success.

  • Our networking programs delivered great opportunities for member introductions to innovative companies like Google and Facebook, and others focused in the manufacturing, hospitality and service sectors. This year we strengthened our International Trade program by recruiting Vermont manufacturers to the Farnborough Airshow in the United Kingdom, providing access to a global market. The Vermont Chamber’s marketing and education efforts demonstrated growth this year with the Vermont Chamber’s VisitVT Facebook page becoming a resource for visitors and those in the hospitality industry in the wake of Tropical Storm Irene. We also updated the Vermont Vacation Guides with an exciting new look this year. These official State of Vermont tourism publications and their digital components draw visitors from around the world, creating revenue that is integral to businesses and Vermont’s economy.

  • Our five person lobbying team continued to work on behalf of our members at the State House in Montpelier, focusing on our key priorities of health care, taxation, workers’ compensation and tourism funding.

  • Membership remained strong in 2012, increasing for the third year in a row. This is an endorsement of the value and opportunities that we deliver. This strength is vital to securing the positive changes needed to advance the Vermont economy and allows us to provide a unified voice for the business community.

  • We look forward to working with your business in the coming year.

  • Bethany A. Bishop, President
