VAAA Open House Event - February 18, 2010 Highlights!

With the support of the Vermont Chamber of Commerce, the Vermont Aerospace and Aviation Association (VAAA) held its first quarterly Open House Event of 2010 at the new Heritage Aviation Facility on Thursday, February 18th. Sponsored by Liquid Measurement Systems of Georgia, VT, this high-profile event was attended by 250 people and served as an opportunity to showcase the VAAA, the top reasons why the Secretary of the Air Force, Michael B. Donley, should select Vermont as the ideal home of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, and feature an impressive lineup of speakers, including:

  • James H. Douglas, Vermont Governor, declared February as Aerospace and Aviation Appreciation Month and signed a Proclamation, as well as presented a check to the officials from the City of South Burlington for $30,000 to fund preliminary work on a new Burlington Aviation Technical Training Center 
  • Brian Dubie, Vermont Lieutenant Governor, VAAA Chair and ASA National Chair
  • Ted Brady, Office of Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy
  • Stephen O'Bryan, VP of Business Development and Customer Engagement for the F-35, Lockheed Martin 
  • Brian Searles, Director of Aviation, Burlington International Airport
  • Bill Gural, General Dynamics, VP of Detection Systems
